Health Promotion Planning
This course provides an introduction for the students on health promotion planning models, definitions about health education and promotion, the concepts of somatic, social and mental health, and the factors that impact on health. Several health promotion perspectives are discussed. The PRECEDE - PROCEED Model is used as a core planning model, but other planning models are discussed as well.
Cancer Prevention
This course discusses primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of cancer and the role of risk and coping behaviors. Social cognitive theories will be discussed to identify main clusters of determinants. In this module we will use the Integrated Model for explaining Behavioral Change as the organizing principle to discuss the clusters. Furthermore, students will execute a small study themselves to learn how to translate theory into practice.
Attitudes, Knowledge and Behaviour
This course provides the student information on social cognition models, such as Social Learning Theory, the Theory of Reasoned Action, The ASE-Model, Transtheoretical Model, Health Belief Model, Precaution Adoption Model.
Methods of Research for Health Sciences (till 2004)
In this course I am responsible for the element concerning quasi-experimental designs and measurements of attitudes.
Summer University Course Health Education and Promotion
This course provides the opportunity for professionals and students to acquire knowledge on the latest principles of health eduation and promotion. The course takes 5 days, is mostly at the end of June. The course uses a combination of didactic principles: teaching, demonstration and practice. For more information
