Objective: Discover how recommender systems can be best implemented with health communication theories in order to support an effective behavior change in chronic patients.

Method: Study of the existing evidence, and development of two different recommender systems to deliver tailored smoking cessation messages. These two systems will be compared concerning the acceptance and suitability of the sent messages, as well as their relation to the effective smoking cessation rates.
